Top drawer 4-tracker from this Brighton/London label. It's worth buying
alone for Future Beat Alliance's 'Change Design' which is a futuristic,
space-age stormer. Bass-heavy elements are contrasted with sharp, trebly
percussion before some light chords come in near the end. Fantastic.
Walter Becomes Wendy's 'Das Morgan' slows things down a bit but it's also a very
good track, although it's less instant and is more of a grower.
On the flip, the bar is raised once again by the excellent Scape One.
Having released stuff on SCSI-AV and Billy Nasty's Electrix label, Kurt
Baggeley's work should be familiar to electro fans and 'The Edge Of Human' is another
top quality track. Kicking off with crashing snares, simple bass and
percussion, the track soon breaks down and introduces various synth
elements giving the track some emotional quality. The EP is closed by Rarer And
Bench's 'Mushroom' - really Certificate 18's Pilote in disguise. And like
much of his other material, it's spooky and off the wall. Distinctively
deep but very dark, this is a suitable close to a great EP.
You'll have to be fast if you want this excellent 12" however as it's
strictly limited to 500 copies. It's definitely worth tracking down
though.
