| Despite Hipp-E
& Halo putting together a very listenable mix, fabric 07 is fairly bland
compared to other recent releases in the fabric series.
This is a mix that glides effortlessly through 14 tracks without ever really demanding the attention of the listener, acting as little more than musical wallpaper at times. Halo’s own Lakeshore Dr. is an ambient track that promises much as the vocals kick in, before dying a long, agonising death. Having said all that there are several standout tracks, with Scooper & Bubba’s I’m Satisfied being one of them - melancholic vocals contrasting with the electro beats perfectly. The lively Freakinought by Natural Rhythms is also one of the better tracks, as is the synth-heavy and incredibly eighties sounding Midnight by Solaris Heights. I’m not sure where exactly this mix would work - although I would guess that on the afternoon after the night before it may make the perfect soundtrack for your hangover. Reviewed by Fraser Syme |
