"Don't call me a player baby - I'm in love with you". Or so sings Gold
Chains on his latest release, although one senses a hint of irony judging by
the rest of his words (some of which are fairly amusing). With lyrics like
that, one might expect it backed by a standard breakbeat and lame funk
samples. Not Gold Chains however, it's all leftfield, delayed beats and
acidic bleeps.
That's on the original mix however - avoid the dreadful club mix and it's
speeded up vocals, stabby strings and dirty bass. On the flip, the reliable
Finnish producer Luomo turns in a pretty good remix, although not quite up
to the standard set on some of his Force Tracks work. It'll certainly get
most house floors grooving though, as the crisp production and clever use of
the vocals give it a unique and distinctive sound.
