My copy of this is a white label so there's no track listings or any
indication of who's behind it, although we can presume that it's label boss
Rolando once again who's manning the controls with possibly Gerald Mitchell
in tow.
The first thing that strikes you about this four track EP is the distinct
lack of strings which are prevalent in the likes of 'Quetzal', the last Los
Hermanos release, or on 'Knights of the Jaguar'. What this EP does
demonstrate however is Rolando's love of tribal drum grooves. Much like a
lot of 430 West's output, the drums dominate these tracks while the actual
sounds themselves tend to be short loops and stabs with not much more
development beyond this.
While the tracks are all decent enough, nothing really stands out. So after
two excellent initial releases, this is a bit of a disappointment although
perhaps my expectations were too high. Still good club tracks but nothing
that'll really have you coming back for more.
