French hip-hop is still vastly underrated on these shores - but releases
such as this will undoubtedly rectify this rather puzzling situation.
DJ Vadim’s original mix opens the single - and if a sparser hip-hop track
has ever been recorded then I have yet to hear it. Minimal beats, maximum
rhyming ability. This simple approach to hip-hop works splendidly in any
language.
Not being able to understand the lyrics does not have an adverse effect on
your enjoyment of this record. TTC’s inventive rhyming styles create an
infectious fun feel to their raps which always leaves you wanting more.
A complete reworking of the track is required for Detroit Grand Pubahs’
hypnotic electro remix, while Tacteel offers an amazing industrial remix
which sounds like the French emcees are freestyling on a building site.
Further remixes courtesy of French producers Tacteel and Octet are also
provided just in case you weren’t quite satisfied, as is the acapella
version for all those bedroom DJs. C’est magnifique.
