Third release by Drexciya-offshoot and all round electro top dogs Ultradyne
on their own PGM label and the best yet in my opinion. This five-tracker
kicks off with a bang on 'Black Panther' which is basically just some
rough beats and a deep bassline, but it sounds great and will work well in a
club. On 'Umen' the strings come out and they're used in a typically dark and
brooding fashion, combining with phased snares and probing bass keys
before vocodered lyrics and high-pitched bleeps are introduced. An excellent
track which is worth the money on it's own.
On the flip, 'Clones' has more of a computerised feel than the tracks on
the A-side and doesn't really do it for me. 'A Brighter Day' sees them get
back on track with slamming electro beats and portamento strings while 'Zero
Division' is a mellower number to finish the EP.
While the tracks on the B-side aren't amazing, this is worth buying for
the first two tracks.
