Un-Cut were a bit of a mystery to me, but once the unmistakeable brass from
Shirley Bassey’s Light My Fire kicks in you know that you’re onto a bit of a
winner.
The female vocals are clear and sultry - reminiscent of Brand New Heavies’s
N’Dea Davenport - and the production is very good too.
The Mist VIP remix has the strings to compliment the bold brass of Miss
Bassey, while the drum’n’bass beat transforms the track completely. Waiwan
offer a much more mellow remix which has more of a traditional R’n’B feel,
but which still has something to offer.
An impressive introduction to Un-Cut.
